עמותת "עזרי מעם ה'" הוקמה בשנת תשע"א (04/07/2011) על ידי קבוצת רבניות ונשות חסד, כשמטרתה לסייע בתמיכות כספיות במגוון נושאים למשפחות שנפלו כלכלית. מיום ליום, הצורך בעמותה שתרכז פרויקטים לסיוע למשפחות במצוקה כלכלית רק עולה. המצב הכלכלי מחמיר והמערכת לא תמיד מיטיבה עם משפחות מעוטות יכולת. העמותה רואה כערך עליון להעמיד משפחות על הרגליים וחיזוק בתי אב המטים ליפול מבחינה כלכלית.
העמותה הוקמה בעקבות מקרה קשה שבמהלכו הלך ל"ע לבית עולמו איש יקר והותיר אחריו אלמנה ותשעה יתומים רכים. יחד עם מספר אנשי חסד ואישי ציבור יצאו הם למסע התרמה עבור המשפחה. במהלך אותה התקופה התוודעו השותפים למלאכה למצב הקשה הפוקד משפחות רבות במדינת-ישראל, פעמים רבות בעקבות נפילה כלכלית נקודתית, שאם הייתה מטופלת בתחילתה, ייתכן וניתן היה להציל משפחות רבות מקריסה.

מנהלות וחברות העמותה מטפלות מידי יום בעשרות פניות ובקשות לעזרה מאנשים פרטיים וכן מגופים ציבוריים. היו שהגדירו את העמותה כ"משרד הרווחה של מדינת ישראל". האגפים הרבים שבמשרדי העמותה ב"נחלאות" בירושלים מטפלים כמעט בכל נושא. אם זה סיוע ליתומים ואלמנות, תמיכה במקרים רפואיים קשים, נפילה כלכלית של משפחות וכן הקמת קרנות במקרה הצורך.

עמותת "עזרי מעם ה", או בשמה המלא "עזרי מעם ה' – קרנות צדקה וחסד בישראל", כשמה כן היא. הקמת קרנות ועזרה שוטפת בכל מקרה ומקרה. הפניות הרבות הנערמות על השולחן הם עדות אילמת למצב הכלכלי הקשה המאיים להחריב משפחות.
עמותת "עזרי מעם ה" הציבה לעצמה מטרה: "לא עוד!". כל בקשה ופניה המגיעה למערכת, נבדקת ביסודיות, והדרך לתמיכה הינה לרוב המקרים – מידית. מסכומים של מאות ואלפי שקלים, ועד לסכומים של עשרות אלפי שקלים. הכסף מועבר ישירות לידי הנזקק, ובמידת הצורך העמותה משלמת את דמי הקניה, כגון מוצרי חשמל, ריהוט וכן לרשויות כגון תשלומי מים, חשמל וגז.
One of the goals that the association sees as a supreme value is to put families on their feet. It is not just a matter of providing one-time or permanent support, but a system whose job is to rehabilitate and put families on their feet.
